Chief Minister Vijay on Wednesday inaugurated the service of 300 new government buses at the Chennai Secretariat and later undertook an inspection by travelling in one of the newly introduced buses.
According to the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, the fleet includes 164 diesel-run buses and 136 gas-run buses, which were formally flagged off as part of the rollout.
After the launch, the Chief Minister boarded government bus Route 29A from the Secretariat to Perambur. During the ride, he interacted with the driver and enquired about the quality of the bus.
Officials said Vijay also recorded a video on his mobile phone while travelling. He paid the fare with exact change and posed for a photograph with the conductor.
