NASA astronauts are preparing for a spacewalk next week to repair the International Space Station’s Canadarm2 robotic arm, which has developed a problem in its wrist section.
NASA said the spacewalk is scheduled for June 30 at 6:05 pm IST and is expected to run for about 6 hours and 40 minutes.
During the operation, the crew will replace the damaged wrist component on Canadarm2, a key station tool that has been in service for more than 25 years. A replacement wrist unit is already available on the space station.
Astronauts Chris Williams and Jessica Meir are assigned to the task and are currently conducting rehearsals and preparations ahead of the planned outing.
