New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the government is preparing major reforms from next year to prevent incidents of question paper leaks.

Referring to the recent NEET re-examination held after reports of a paper leak, Pradhan praised the government agencies, teachers, officials and the Indian Air Force for conducting the retest successfully within 38 days. He said around 2.5 lakh people were involved in organising the re-exam.

He added that strict physical and digital monitoring was put in place to curb leaks. To ensure secure movement of question papers, the Indian Air Force was used to transport NEET re-exam papers to 5,440 examination centres across the country.

Pradhan said the leak in the May NEET exam occurred after a section of teachers—who were expected to act as guardians—became part of the wrongdoing. He said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been directed to take strict legal action against the teachers involved, and their assets will also be seized.

To reduce human intervention and protect the confidentiality of question banks, he said NEET will be conducted as a computer-based test from next year.
