Ottawa: Switzerland and Bosnia registered key wins in Group B league matches of the FIFA World Cup, defeating Canada 2-1 and Qatar 3-1 respectively. With the result, Switzerland finished on top of the group and sealed progression to the next round.

In the Canada vs Switzerland match, the first half ended goalless despite chances at both ends. Switzerland struck soon after the restart as Ruben Vargas opened the scoring in the 46th minute, before Johan Manzambi doubled the lead in the 57th.

Canada pulled one back in the 76th minute through Promise David, setting up a tense finish. However, Switzerland’s defence held firm, and the match ended 2-1 in their favour.

In the other fixture, Bosnia took control against Qatar with Kerim Alajbegovic scoring in the 29th minute. A goalkeeping error led to an own goal in the 34th, making it 2-0, before Hassan Al-Haydos reduced the deficit for Qatar in the 41st to leave Bosnia 2-1 ahead at the break.

Bosnia sealed the contest in the 80th minute when Erwin Mahmic made it 3-1. The defeat ended Qatar’s World Cup campaign.
