Indian Communist Party (CPI) state secretary Veerappandian said the conduct and language used in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly must uphold the institution’s traditions and decorum.

He said the party, which supports the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government from outside, would not create pressure on the government, but would continue to raise its voice for oppressed people.

Veerappandian criticised Chief Minister Vijay’s speech in the Assembly, alleging it resembled a public meeting address. He also said making gestures in the House was wrong and objected to the Chief Minister’s remark, “Appavai kaanom,” calling it unacceptable.

At the same time, he said opposition leader Udhayanidhi’s comments about the Chief Minister’s personal life were also not acceptable. He urged all sides to avoid improper words and warned against looking down on those who lose, noting that victory and defeat can change.

He said no one should belittle another—whether it is the Chief Minister or the Leader of the Opposition.
