Kolkata: Trinamool Congress leader and former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday issued a stern message to party workers, saying there would be no forgiveness for those who left the party.
Speaking at a meeting of Trinamool district office-bearers, Banerjee urged cadres to work continuously in the face of what she described as the BJP’s politics. She alleged that people were being targeted through repression and pushed into distress.
Banerjee said many were living in fear, with several losing jobs and seeing their aspirations shattered. She argued that only a united Trinamool could provide protection to people during such a crisis.
Calling defectors “traitors”, she compared the party to a mother who nurtures her children, and criticised those who, in her words, refuse to care when the mother’s health is poor. She added that while such leaders may save themselves for now, people and party workers would question them in the end.
