Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials in Telangana conducted searches at four locations linked to a suspended woman tahsildar and seized documents related to alleged disproportionate assets.
The official, Thummakoma Sucharitha, serves as a tahsildar and joint sub-registrar in Shamirpet, Hyderabad. She was suspended last month after being caught allegedly demanding a Rs 30 lakh bribe to convert 30 acres of agricultural land into non-agricultural land, and accepting Rs 2 lakh as an advance.
Following complaints that she had amassed wealth beyond known sources of income, the ACB carried out simultaneous raids at her premises and those of close associates. During the searches, officials recovered documents for three multi-storey apartments and two residential plots in Hyderabad, along with records for 2.17 acres of agricultural land in Siddipet district.
The unaccounted assets traced through documents were estimated at Rs 5.05 crore, while officials said the overall market value of the properties could be more than Rs 20 crore. The raids also reportedly yielded gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 1.20 crore, Rs 12 lakh in cash, bank deposits of Rs 38 lakh and two luxury cars, with further inquiry continuing into additional and benami holdings.
