Indian Army rowers Lakshay and Ujwal Kumar Singh have created history by winning a gold medal at the World Cup rowing event in Lucerne, Switzerland. It is the first time India has secured gold in the World Cup rowing series.

The Indian pair completed the race in 6:26.09 to clinch the top spot. Competitors from Hong Kong finished second, while the Netherlands took third place.

India had not won a gold medal in the World Cup rowing circuit until this edition. The breakthrough victory has been hailed as a landmark achievement for the country.

The Indian Army congratulated the two athletes for their record-setting performance and for bringing pride to the nation.
