Tehran has warned the United States that it could completely suspend peace negotiations if what it called US “aggressive” attacks continue, amid renewed tensions around the strategically vital Hormuz Strait.

According to the report, US military aircraft carried out strikes in the Hormuz Strait in response to an Iranian drone attack on an oil tanker. The situation escalated further as the US attacked Iran for a second day, accusing it of violating a peace agreement.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the latest strikes showed the US does not respect its commitments. He added that efforts were under way to restore peace in the Middle East, and that any attempt to challenge Iran’s control over the Hormuz Strait would only intensify the crisis.

Araghchi warned that moves contrary to Iran’s current actions could lead to more complicated conditions, delay the reopening of the Hormuz Strait, and increase tensions similar to what was seen over the past two nights.
