Chennai: Chief Minister Vijay has cancelled a planned meeting with former AIADMK ministers who recently joined the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), party functionaries said.

After the AIADMK’s defeat in the Assembly election, former ministers including Natarajan, Radhakrishnan, Kadambur Raju and Sampath moved to TVK. Several former MLAs—Maragatham, Isakki Subbaiya, Sathyabama and Jayakumar—who resigned their MLA posts also joined the party.

According to the officials, the leaders had been seeking an appointment and had repeatedly pressed ministers Anand and Aadhav Arjuna for a meeting slot. Following this, a meeting with the Chief Minister was arranged for Saturday.

The former AIADMK leaders arrived in Chennai with high expectations. However, the meeting was called off at the last minute due to the death of director Bhagyaraj, leaving them disappointed, the party sources added.
