New Delhi: India will be represented at the funeral rites of Iranian religious cleric Khamenei by Bihar Governor Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain and Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita, sources indicated.
Khamenei was killed during the US–Israel attacks amid the conflict involving Iran, according to the report. With the war continuing after his death, the conduct of the funeral ceremonies faced delays, and rites earlier expected in March were postponed.
Iran has announced that the funeral ceremonies will be held from July 4 to July 9, beginning on July 4. Leaders from several countries are expected to attend.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been invited, but he is already scheduled for official visits to Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia during the same period. As a result, the Governor and the MoS are expected to attend on India’s behalf.
