Chennai: Chief Minister Vijay is reviewing alleged corruption and irregularities said to have occurred during the previous DMK government, and is seeking to identify those responsible, according to information circulating in the Secretariat.

After the TAVEK government assumed office, the administration has begun examining alleged lapses from the earlier DMK and AIADMK tenures. As part of this exercise, the government has directed departments to prepare and release white papers.

In the next phase, all departments have been instructed to submit a wide range of records, including actions taken against officials over the past five years, foreign travel details, approvals granted for promotions, staff appointments and transfers, and information on officers and staff placed on waiting lists.

Departments have also been asked to send details related to assistant posts created to support IAS officers, personnel facing disciplinary or criminal proceedings, compassionate appointments, department-wise cases, and projects involving land acquisition.

Meanwhile, speaking to reporters in Kumbakonam in Thanjavur district, Finance Minister Maria Wilson said the state’s revenue has fallen sharply and that the government would work to correct revenue losses in the coming days. He added that the Chief Minister’s review of alleged DMK-era irregularities is under way and that outcomes would be known soon.
