Chennai: Chief Minister Vijay has instructed IAS and IPS officers in Tamil Nadu to act without bias and to keep politics out of efforts to curb the drug culture. He said action should be taken without hesitation against offenders, even if they are linked to his party.

The Chief Minister made the remarks while addressing a two-day conference of district collectors, police superintendents and senior forest department officials at the Namakkal Kavignar Maligai in the Secretariat complex. The meeting began with the Tamil Thai Vazhthu and ran until early afternoon on the first day.

Emphasising law and order, Vijay said officials should make independent decisions based on the law and ensure swift legal action against anyone found guilty, regardless of status. At the same time, he stressed that innocents must not be harmed in the process.

He directed collectors to hold monthly law-and-order meetings, coordinate with relevant departments, and consult legal experts in important cases so that offenders do not escape due to delays. He also called for expedited legal procedures to secure timely outcomes.

Vijay said women’s safety must be ensured “100%” without compromise, and asked collectors and SPs to give it special focus. He also urged close attention to student and child safety, including continuous monitoring of shops near schools and inspections when necessary, and called for immediate arrests and prosecution in narcotics-related offences.
