Muslim League leader Kader Moideen has claimed that DMK president M.K. Stalin personally told him that Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) could become Chief Minister with DMK support.
Speaking about a series of meetings at Anna Arivalayam, Moideen said he and Abu Bakkar met DMK leaders as the political situation was escalating. He recalled that Stalin had earlier issued a statement urging the Governor to invite the side with the highest number of MLAs to form the government, which they welcomed publicly.
Moideen said that when they returned the next day amid rising pressure, they were told that talks were underway for a government under EPS. He said he was initially unsure of what was being conveyed, but later understood that the message was that EPS would be CM with DMK backing.
He further claimed that on another visit, they were told there was an attempt to make VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan the Chief Minister, even though he was not an MLA, by making him an MLA within six months. Moideen said he questioned how such a proposal would be accepted.
Moideen added that the Muslim League reflects the views of its community and that, after internal consultations and informing a panel of political experts, the party decided to join “Thaveka.” He said that when he conveyed this decision to Stalin while joining the ministry, Stalin responded with thanks and congratulations.
