Minister Nirmal Kumar on Monday alleged that the DMK and AIADMK were continuing efforts to form a government through “shortcuts”, and said the developments were triggering exits from the two parties and new entrants into TAVEKA.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat in Chennai, he claimed the DMK and AIADMK had earlier attempted to form a government with BJP support and had carried out “conspiracies” to prevent a TAVEKA-led government from taking shape.
He further alleged that Chief Minister M K Stalin, Udhayanidhi Stalin, AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) and EPS’s son were working with certain industrialists to pursue an alternative route to power. He said this was also the reason cited for some parties in the DMK alliance considering an exit.
Referring to discontent within the AIADMK, the minister said resignations were an individual decision. He also claimed that in the coming years the DMK, AIADMK and BJP would come together, and asserted that coalition governments in Tamil Nadu had become inevitable.
Nirmal Kumar added that meeting the Governor was a routine administrative procedure, and reiterated that senior AIADMK functionaries were leaving because of continued attempts to form a government “by shortcuts”. He also said TAVEKA had no role if individuals quit other parties.
