Chennai: Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president Manickam Tagore on Monday took a swipe at DMK leader and Chief Minister M K Stalin, saying a series of elections are on the horizon and asking, “Elections are coming—who is going to win?”
In an interview, Tagore said the Congress does not have multiple factions and claimed there is “only one team” for Rahul Gandhi. He added that the party would state its views without hesitation and respond firmly to criticism.
Tagore also underlined that Congress is not a party that merely applauds from outside power, noting that two ministers wearing khadi are part of the Cabinet. He said the party would responsibly take public issues to the government’s attention.
Referring to criticism of the ruling government, Tagore said parties that lose elections tend to blame those in power, describing it as a kind of “disease” and urging people not to treat it as a serious fault.
Listing the upcoming polls—local body elections in three months, a by-election in six months, and the Lok Sabha election in three years—he asserted that the alliance would be the winner. He also claimed that corruption and bribery have been reduced significantly over the last 45 days, calling it a change.
