Chennai: MDMK general secretary Vaiko on Monday alleged that “commission, cutting and corruption” prevailed during the DMK’s tenure.
Speaking to reporters, Vaiko said public anger had peaked at the time and claimed commissions were collected even by quoting rates “per square foot”. He further said that such practices have been eliminated in the present administration.
Vaiko also referred to his earlier association with the DMK-led alliance, saying it would have been improper to attack an alliance partner while remaining within the coalition. He said he chose not to speak then as a matter of alliance discipline.
Responding to questions from the media, Vaiko asked reporters to continue questioning and said he was prepared to answer at length.
