Tamil Nadu Minister Adhav on Tuesday said contractors who were allegedly cheated after paying money for promised government contracts during the previous administration can come forward and lodge complaints.
In a statement, he said the state government’s functioning is being carried out with honesty and transparency. He alleged that in earlier regimes, the Public Works and Highways departments saw organised irregularities, including planned rule violations and fixed bribe amounts.
According to the minister, people linked to those in power at the time—including family members and close associates—had collected money from contractors by promising to secure contracts. He said several contractors were later denied work allotments despite having paid.
Adhav said complaints are already being received and urged other affected persons to report the matter either to him directly or to the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption police. Complaints can also be sent to [email protected].
He assured that complainants’ details would be protected and necessary legal safeguards provided, adding that legal steps would be taken to recover the money lost. He also said measures would be ensured so such irregularities do not recur and that future contract processes would be transparent.
