Chief Minister Vijay is set to meet parties supporting the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led government on July 1 in Chennai’s Kovalam, sources said.

The TVK government currently has the backing of the Congress, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Muslim League, CPI(M) and the CPI. The meeting is expected to focus on alliance coordination ahead of upcoming local body elections.

With opposition parties expected to mount a strong challenge, Vijay is also likely to discuss ensuring a smooth conduct of the budget session and consultations on department-wise grant demands.

Sources said TVK plans to contest in all constituencies in the forthcoming by-elections. Vijay is expected to seek full cooperation from allies, while assuring them of due importance in seat-sharing and arrangements for the local body polls.

The meeting may also take a call on formally naming the alliance, according to information available.
