Chennai: Minister Nirmal Kumar on Tuesday alleged that there has been a sustained attempt over the past 40 days to topple the THAWEKA government by approaching its MLAs with inducements.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat, he claimed that every THAWEKA MLA had been contacted and offered sums ranging from Rs 10 crore to Rs 50 crore. He also alleged that some MLAs were threatened, and said one MLA has lodged a complaint.
Nirmal Kumar alleged that the outreach was carried out by individuals including Senthil Balaji, acting on the instructions of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Udhayanidhi Stalin. He further claimed that EPS had joined hands with the DMK to form a government through “backdoor” means.
The minister said THAWEKA MLAs could not be “bought” and asserted that the party was ready to face elections whenever they are held. He also warned of strict legal action against those involved in the alleged bargaining, and said there would be no compromise in cases involving those who join THAWEKA.
