Chennai police have arrested six people so far in connection with an alleged conspiracy to destabilise the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government led by Chief Minister Vijay.
The case began after Uthangarai (Krishnagiri district) TVK MLA Ilaiyaraja complained that unidentified persons approached him with an offer to switch parties. Following the complaint, Triplicane police registered a case and formed a special team to investigate.
During the probe, a Chennai-based YouTuber, Tirunavukkarasu, was arrested for allegedly being involved in the negotiations. Police said he is known for releasing election-to-election opinion polls under the banner of “Loyola College alumni”.
Based on information provided by him, two more persons—Karthik and Ramesh from Karur—were arrested. Reports said the duo are close to former minister Senthil Balaji.
The arrests come amid political allegations, with Minister Nirmal Kumar earlier claiming that attempts were being made to form a government through “backdoor” methods and that many were joining TVK from other parties.
