IndiGo has rolled out a new low-fare option called ‘IndiGo Lite’ for passengers who prefer to travel with only cabin baggage on both domestic and international routes.
The airline, India’s largest carrier, said the plan is aimed at economy-class travellers who want to pay only for the services they need, especially those flying with fewer bags.
Under regular economy fares, passengers are typically allowed 7 kg of cabin baggage along with 15–20 kg of check-in baggage. With the Lite fare, the base fare is reduced for those carrying only up to 7 kg in the cabin.
In a statement, IndiGo said the move is part of adapting services to market demand while making air travel more affordable. The report also noted that Air India Express has already offered reduced fares for passengers travelling with only a handbag.
