Atlanta: England booked a place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 after edging Congo 2-1 in the Round of 32.
Congo stunned England early when Bryan Sibenga found the net in the 7th minute, giving his side a 1-0 lead. England pushed forward in search of an equaliser but could not break through before the interval.
After a long spell of pressure, England’s breakthrough arrived in the 75th minute through star striker Harry Kane, who levelled the score at 1-1.
Kane then completed the turnaround with another goal in the 86th minute to put England ahead. Despite late efforts from both teams, the score remained unchanged, sending England through and ending Congo’s campaign.
