Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in New Delhi on Wednesday to discuss ways to deepen India–Japan relations.

Takaichi is on a three-day visit to India at Modi’s invitation. She was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour at Rashtrapati Bhavan earlier in the day.

During the reception, the two leaders introduced their ministers and delegations to each other. The meeting was followed by discussions focused on bilateral cooperation.

Takaichi is scheduled to take part in the 16th India–Japan annual summit being held in Delhi. Ministers from both sides are expected to hold talks on expanding cooperation in areas including trade, investment and defence.
