Tamil Nadu minister K.A. Sengottaiyan on Wednesday claimed that “some people are waiting like foxes” for the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government to falter, while asserting that TVK leader Vijay would remain the state’s “permanent Chief Minister.”
Speaking at an event in Mamallapuram where AIADMK members joined TVK, Sengottaiyan responded to criticism that those switching sides were “traitors.” He urged people to examine where “betrayal” had actually occurred, referring to internal differences that, he said, emerged over the idea of Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) becoming Chief Minister with DMK support.
Sengottaiyan said those joining TVK had come with the belief that trusting TVK’s leadership would benefit the country and its people. He welcomed the entrants, describing them as “good people” who had come in search of strong leadership and a hopeful future.
He also alleged that some were hoping the TVK administration would stumble, and claimed that AIADMK members were now joining as a force to protect the TVK government. In his remarks, he further said that the dream of EPS becoming Chief Minister with DMK backing had been shattered.
Concluding his speech, Sengottaiyan recalled his own political journey, saying that when he was sidelined in politics, it was his leader who supported him and made him Revenue Minister—an act he described as unmatched in the country’s political history.
