Congress MP Praveen Chakravarthy on Thursday said the Tamil Nadu Congress will oppose the construction of the proposed Mekedatu dam, calling it an inter-state issue between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
Speaking to reporters at Coimbatore airport, he said the party in Tamil Nadu is against any construction activity at Mekedatu, irrespective of which government is in power in Karnataka.
He added that since a national party is part of the government in Tamil Nadu, he believes discussions can be held to arrive at a political solution to the dispute.
In the same interaction, he also commented on a case in which three people were arrested after a complaint that a former DMK minister attempted to “buy” a TVK MLA, describing such negotiations as illegal and calling it horse-trading.
He further claimed that the public is saying corruption has reduced in the last 50 days and that government offices are processing people’s work quickly, calling it a good beginning and saying law and order has improved.
