DMK and AIADMK leaders on Friday separately met Tamil Nadu Governor Arlekar at Raj Bhavan in Guindy, Chennai, and submitted complaints alleging “horse-trading” by the ruling Thaveka government led by Chief Minister Vijay.
Since the new government took charge, several key functionaries from different political parties have been joining Thaveka. The opposition parties claim this is being driven by inducements aimed at shoring up numbers.
Both DMK and AIADMK have alleged that the government, lacking a clear majority, is attempting to bring leaders from other parties into its fold through horse-trading. They also accused the administration of allowing people who are not ministers to participate in cabinet meetings.
According to the account, DMK representatives were at the Governor’s residence when AIADMK whip Agri Krishnamoorthy and MP Inbathurai arrived and met the Governor to lodge a similar complaint.
The Governor’s office has not issued a public response in the report.
