Former AIADMK minister K.A. Sengottaiyan on Friday dismissed claims that the party or its government needs outsiders to “come and save” it, taking a swipe at DMK’s former minister Anita Radhakrishnan.

Speaking to reporters in Erode, Sengottaiyan said there is no situation today where people like Anita Radhakrishnan must step in to protect the movement or the administration. He also referred to a legal episode, stating that she had sought anticipatory bail from the High Court after allegedly making defamatory remarks, but it was not granted, following which she was taken and a case was registered.

Sengottaiyan further recalled that Anita Radhakrishnan began her political journey in the AIADMK, where she served as an MLA and later as a minister. He said she later joined the DMK due to circumstances and became a minister there as well.

Based on these shifts, Sengottaiyan remarked that her positions appear to change depending on the prevailing situation and mindset, and reiterated that the AIADMK does not rely on such figures to sustain itself.
