SIVAGANGA: Teachers attending the ongoing transfer counselling for primary and middle schools have welcomed what they describe as a more transparent process, with no vacancies being kept off the online list under an alleged “M list”.
The counselling, conducted by the School Education Department for headmasters and teachers working in primary and middle schools, began on July 3 and will continue until July 16. It covers transfers across districts as well as within districts, blocks and within blocks.
In previous years, teachers said some sought recommendations to secure postings in key towns or schools located on main roads. They alleged that such preferred vacancies were not displayed during online counselling and were informally referred to as a “Minister list”.
This time, teachers said all available posts are being displayed without concealment, which has drawn appreciation across the state. Separately, the Director of Elementary Education has instructed that teachers attending counselling must do so only by taking casual leave, a move teachers believe will reduce unnecessary crowding and avoid disputes at counselling venues.
Teachers said the combination of open vacancy display and the casual-leave requirement would ensure that only those who genuinely need transfers participate, making the process smoother.
