DMK and AIADMK functionaries met Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Arlekar at Raj Bhavan in Guindy, Chennai, on Friday, raising complaints over alleged “party poaching” and horse-trading in the state.
The developments come amid reports of leaders from both AIADMK and DMK joining the newly formed ruling TVK. The report also said six AIADMK MLAs resigned their posts and joined TVK, while DMK MP Jagathrakshakan’s son Sandeep Anand was among those who recently joined the party in Chennai.
DMK representatives, including organising secretary R.S. Bharathi, legal wing joint secretary Paranthaman, Rajya Sabha MP Wilson and MLA Austin, alleged that the TVK government was using inducements to lure opposition MLAs. Bharathi claimed the party also flagged alleged misuse of authority and said private individuals were present in a cabinet meeting and were seen issuing directions to officials.
AIADMK MP Inbathurai and former minister Agri Krishnamurthy later met the Governor and complained about MLAs being made to resign and join TVK. Inbathurai said they urged action under Section 167, and added that if needed the Governor could send a report to the Centre under Article 356.
The report noted that leaders from DMK, AIADMK and the BJP met the Governor on the same day and submitted a series of complaints against TVK.
