VCK president Thol. Thirumavalavan on Saturday questioned what is unfolding within the AIADMK and why its leaders are not openly addressing the developments. Speaking to reporters in Chennai, he said the party’s general secretary has not offered any clear response.

He also criticised the media for repeatedly directing questions at “intermediate” parties instead of seeking answers from the AIADMK leadership. If claims are being made that the AIADMK would be fully merged into “Thaveka”, journalists should ask whether such a move is right, democratic and politically ethical, he said.

Referring to allegations of “horse-trading”, Thirumavalavan said that if the complaint is true, it must be investigated and action should follow. He added that if the Governor has the authority, he should intervene.

Thirumavalavan further asked why those who should be angry or protesting against Thaveka are remaining silent. He said there has been no strong public voice from the AIADMK claiming that attempts are being made to destabilise the party, nor an appeal to the public on whether the situation is fair.

He urged journalists to question the leadership of the parties facing the allegations directly. If Thaveka is involved, he said, questions should be put to Thaveka’s leadership; if the DMK is involved, the DMK leadership should be asked, adding that questioning others serves little purpose.
