Trump’s remarks at Independence Day event
US President Donald Trump said the United States has “completely destroyed” the armed forces of two countries—Venezuela and Iran—while speaking at an ongoing Independence Day celebration in the US.
Credit to military rebuild in first term
Trump argued that the capability behind such strength came from efforts by his administration to rebuild the US armed forces during his first term. He said America’s position as the world’s most powerful nation was not an accident of history.
Claim of ability to strike Iran’s leadership
He further claimed the US has the capacity to remove Iran’s remaining leadership “in a single strike,” alleging they are all located in one place.
Why he says it won’t happen
Trump added that the US would not carry out such an attack, saying that if it did, there would be no one left to negotiate with.
