Several leaders from other parties, including former AIADMK minister Vaigaichelvan and Sandeep Anand, son of DMK MP Jagathrakshakan, joined the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Friday in Chennai.

The joining event was held at TVK’s office in Panaiyur, where party general secretary and minister Anand was present as the new entrants formally enrolled in the party.

Among those who joined were former AIADMK MLAs Pon Jayaseelan, Geetha Manivannan, Nilakottai Anbazhagan, Cantonment Shanmugam and Bengaluru Pugazhendi, along with former DMK MLA Kalairajan and actor Ravi Maria, the report said.

After the induction, TVK leader Vijay met the newly joined former ministers and ex-MLAs at the Panaiyur office. Vaigaichelvan said Vijay spoke warmly, sought inputs on issues including the Cauvery dispute, and was open to hearing different views.

Vaigaichelvan also criticised the current AIADMK leadership, saying the party’s position had weakened and that TVK had filled the space, according to his remarks at the event.
