Annamalai, leader of the ‘We The Leaders’ organisation, said there would be “no compromise” in the case involving DMK treasurer TR Baalu. He made the remarks while addressing the group’s introductory meeting in New Jersey, United States.
Referring to a court appearance, Annamalai said Baalu spoke about having filed multiple defamation cases in the past and claimed he had not lost any of them. According to Annamalai, Baalu also mentioned obtaining apology letters from some individuals and receiving compensation from a private publication.
Annamalai described exchanges during the proceedings, saying he objected to remarks he considered defamatory and stated he would file another defamation complaint. He also said he argued that the statements were made in the presence of many people, but that his request was not accepted.
In the same speech, Annamalai said the government should be given a year’s time. He thanked those who attended the event and said efforts should be made to develop more leaders.
