Chief Minister Vijay held a review meeting with Higher Education Department officials at the Chennai Secretariat on Sunday, as the Tamil Nadu government prepares to present its General Budget and Agriculture Budget by the end of this month.

As is customary, once the budget debate concludes, departments submit their respective grant demands. In the run-up to this process, the Chief Minister has been conducting department-wise review meetings in two sessions each day—morning and afternoon.

According to officials, review meetings for the Cooperation, Food, Revenue, Rural Development and Highways departments have already been completed. In the latest meeting, discussions reportedly covered announcements to be included in the budget, along with matters such as the appointment of vice-chancellors.

The review schedule is expected to continue until July 22, with the Chief Minister participating in the sessions. With limited time left for the budget, department secretaries attending the meetings have been instructed to prepare reports on new schemes within the next two days and forward them for Finance Department approval.
