Chennai: Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief coordinator Seeman has condemned a Telugu film starring Jr NTR, alleging that it misrepresents the history of Lord Murugan.

In a statement, Seeman said the film—being produced in Andhra Pradesh with Murugan as its central theme—appears to be shaping a narrative that Murugan was born in North India. He said reports and related material circulating in this direction were “shocking”.

Calling it unacceptable to present historical distortions as truth under the label of artistic creation, Seeman argued that communities without distinct worship traditions had, over time, appropriated deities revered by Tamils, including Shiva, Murugan, Krishna, Thirumal and Kotravai.

He asserted that Murugan is inseparable from Tamil identity and demanded that the film team immediately drop any such claims. Seeman warned of “serious consequences” and said NTK would launch major protests to prevent the film from being screened in Tamil Nadu if it is released with the same portrayal.

He also urged the Tamil Nadu government to deny permission for screening, citing the possibility of a law-and-order issue.
