The Madras High Court has issued notice to Chief Minister Vijay in election petitions related to the Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East Assembly constituencies.

In the Perambur case, DMK candidate R D Sekar, along with voters Dinesh and Lakshmi Narasimman, has challenged the declaration of Vijay’s victory. A separate petition has been filed by DMK candidate Inigo Irudayaraj questioning Vijay’s win from Tiruchirappalli East.

All four petitions came up for hearing on July 7 before Justice V Lakshmi Narayanan. The court directed that Vijay respond within three weeks after defects in the petitions are rectified.

In related developments, the High Court also issued notice in petitions challenging the Assembly election victories of Minister Aadhav and former minister E V Velu. Separately, the court dismissed an AIADMK candidate V Ramu’s petition challenging former minister Durai Murugan’s 2021 victory from Katpadi.
