Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced that the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM Bangalore) will establish a campus in Indonesia.
Modi made the statement during his official visit to Jakarta, where he met Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. The two sides also signed a series of agreements.
According to the Prime Minister, the agreements aim to deepen cooperation between the youth of both countries in areas such as artificial intelligence, telecommunications and digital infrastructure. He added that both nations have agreed to strengthen understanding and collaboration in the startup ecosystem.
With this move, IIM Bangalore becomes the second IIM to set up an overseas campus. Earlier, IIM Ahmedabad opened a campus in Dubai.
The development comes amid a broader trend of Indian institutions expanding abroad, with IIT Madras opening a campus in Tanzania and IIT Delhi launching one in Abu Dhabi.
