Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun a multi-nation tour covering Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand, with Jakarta as the first stop. He arrived in Indonesia’s capital where President Prabowo Subianto received him at the airport.

On July 7, Modi met President Subianto for talks in Jakarta. Following the meeting, the Indonesian President announced that Modi would be conferred the country’s highest civilian honour, the Bintang Adipurna.

After the discussions, the two leaders jointly addressed the media. Modi said India–Indonesia ties have strengthened and that both sides would work together in areas including security and education.

He added that a “bright period” is emerging in relations between the two countries, reflecting growing cooperation across key sectors.
