Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Israel enjoys strong support from India, pushing back against a recent remark by US Vice President Vance that the United States is Israel’s only powerful ally.

The comments come amid the backdrop of close Israel–US ties, including Washington’s support for Israel’s actions against Palestine and the two countries’ joint war against Iran. Despite the partnership, the report notes that the US did not consult Israel on steps such as ending the war with Iran or pursuing peace talks.

US President Donald Trump has also been quoted as saying Israel would act as the US directs. In this context, Vance recently asserted that no other country matches the US as a strong friend to Israel.

Responding, Netanyahu said he respects Vance but cannot accept all his views. He added that Israel has other friends as well, citing India—with a population of 1.4 billion—as an example, and pointed to the support visible on his Facebook page.
