The Tamil Nadu Congress Working Committee met at Sathyamurthy Bhavan in Chennai, chaired by state party chief Manickam Tagore. Minister Rajeshkumar and senior leaders including P Chidambaram, Peter Alphonse, Thangabalu, Azhagiri and Chellakumar attended the meeting.

During the discussions, leaders said the party should have openly opposed the induction of former AIADMK ministers who face corruption allegations into TVK. Former state Congress chiefs Thirunavukkarasar and Selvaperunthagai raised the issue, and Chidambaram backed their view.

MP Vishnuprasad also called for a clearer sharing of responsibilities within the party’s legislative wing. He argued that, following the “one person, one post” principle, opportunities should be extended to other MLAs as Rajeshkumar currently holds both the Assembly Congress leader post and a ministerial position.

The committee adopted eight resolutions, including a decision to raise its voice and stage protests against the Karnataka government’s efforts to build a dam at Mekedatu across the Cauvery. A non-vegetarian Chettinad feast from Karaikudi was arranged for participants after the meeting.
