AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday claimed that the TVK government is not a “complete victory” mandate and is surviving with the backing of its alliance partners.

Speaking at the party headquarters in Chennai during a review meeting with AIADMK functionaries from Ranipet and Tirupathur districts, Palaniswami said the government was functioning like a “make-believe” administration dependent on allies.

He alleged that law and order issues and sexual violence incidents were being reported frequently, while Chief Minister Vijay and his ministers were focused on making “reels” instead of governance.

Palaniswami further said the very alliance parties currently supporting TVK could bring down the government at any time. He also asked party units to begin preparations immediately for the upcoming local body elections and to recommend only loyal and committed workers for candidature.

In additional remarks, he criticised the TVK administration as inexperienced and struggling to implement election promises, and referred to a case filed by a woman lawyer from TVK alleging bargaining involving large sums for government advocate appointments.
