The annual Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir has recorded a new milestone, with more than 1.13 lakh pilgrims visiting the holy cave shrine within the first five days.
The pilgrimage began on July 3 and is scheduled to continue until August 28. The Amarnath cave temple, located near Pahalgam in Anantnag district, sits at an altitude of about 12,730 feet above sea level and is known for the naturally formed ice lingam.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said the administration’s goal is to make the pilgrimage a truly memorable experience while ensuring the best possible facilities for devotees.
He added that arrangements are being made with priority for smooth, uninterrupted darshan for all pilgrims, as the number of visitors continues to rise in the early days of the yatra.
