Coimbatore: Minister Nirmal Kumar on Tuesday claimed that both the DMK and the AIADMK are “gradually weakening” and would soon be left without people in their ranks.

Speaking to reporters, he questioned why the DMK was “afraid” when the Chief Minister was set to travel to Karur. He alleged that petitions were being submitted to the CBI with the intention of preventing the visit.

Referring to a case that is under CBI probe, the minister said the agency is continuing its investigation and has not yet filed a charge sheet. He alleged that the case was being used to “stall” the Chief Minister and the party.

Nirmal Kumar further claimed that attempts by the DMK and AIADMK had failed, and reiterated his view that the two parties were steadily losing influence.
