Chennai: Minister Rajmohan on Tuesday alleged that NTK leader Seeman was speaking in a manner that appeared to support “big fish” linked to alleged corruption in private school fee collection.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Rajmohan said he had returned after completing an official visit to the United States, undertaken as per Chief Minister Vijay’s instructions. He said he participated in the annual event of an organisation and also held discussions on conducting a World Tamil Conference again.

The minister urged that routine inspections by ministers and MLAs should not be misconstrued, calling such reviews a long-standing practice. He also said no video was taken by the minister during the inspection.

On the issue of private schools, Rajmohan said the government had stopped alleged cash payments and prevented corruption running into thousands of crores. He insisted the move should be seen as an anti-corruption measure and not as being favourable to private schools.

He added that government schools were his priority, and claimed Seeman’s comments seemed to stem from displeasure over alleged major players being exposed in the private school fee collection irregularities.
