Court order

The Madras High Court on Tuesday granted conditional anticipatory bail to former DMK minister Senthil Balaji and his brother Ashok Kumar. The order was passed by Justice G.K. Ilanthiraiyan.

Case background

The case stems from a complaint by Uthangarai MLA Ilaiyaraja of Krishnagiri district, alleging that there were negotiations to topple the TVK government. Based on the complaint, Triplicane police registered a case.

Arrests and investigation

Police arrested eight people in connection with the case, including a YouTuber, Thirunavukkarasu, from Arumbakkam, and remanded them to judicial custody.

Summons and lookout notice

Summons had been issued to Senthil Balaji and Ashok Kumar to appear for inquiry, but they had not appeared so far. A lookout notice was issued to prevent them from fleeing abroad.

Bail plea

Senthil Balaji moved the High Court seeking anticipatory bail. After hearing the petition, the court granted conditional anticipatory bail to both him and his brother.
