Chief Minister Vijay is set to visit Karur on Thursday, marking his first trip to the district after the Assembly elections. The schedule includes official programmes and public interactions across multiple venues.
According to arrangements under way, the Chief Minister will begin with events at the Collectorate, where welfare assistance will be distributed to beneficiaries. An inspection meeting with officials is also planned.
Later, he will lay the foundation stone at Manavasi panchayat for a private sector project—Evergreen Kothari Footwear Manufacturing Company—which will produce non-leather footwear. The unit is being set up at an estimated cost of Rs 1,700 crore and is expected to provide employment to around 13,500 people.
A public interaction programme is scheduled at the privately owned ‘Atlas’ auditorium complex in Vennimalai. During the event, Vijay is expected to hand over compassionate appointment orders to 32 family members of those who died in the Karur crowd incident.
Preparations are under way for a large pandal with seating for about 5,000 people, and banners have been put up across the district ahead of the Chief Minister’s visit.
