Private school administrators in Tamil Nadu are reportedly hesitating to lodge complaints about an alleged bribery network for school recognition, citing threats from unidentified persons.

According to information that has emerged, bribes were allegedly collected for granting recognition and issuing “no objection” certificates to private schools. While allegations surfaced earlier, school managements had not come forward with formal complaints.

After the T.V.K. government assumed office, several private schools began filing complaints about illegal collections. Based on one such complaint alleging bribes up to Rs 100 crore, Arasakumar—described as the head of an unregistered body named the Tamil Nadu Private Schools Association—was arrested.

Sources linked to private school associations said bribes ranging from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 1 crore were allegedly collected from each school. They also claimed that some individuals close to Arasakumar have been intimidating school managements to prevent further complaints, and said they would pursue appropriate legal action.
