Chennai: Annamalai, founder of the organisation We The Leaders, has appealed to the public to “unite to eradicate the alcohol demon” and protect Tamil Nadu.
In a statement, he said efforts should be intensified to press for the closure of TASMAC liquor outlets located near educational institutions, places of worship and bus stands.
Citing field observations conducted in parts of Chennai, Annamalai claimed several TASMAC shops are functioning within 500 metres of schools, religious sites and bus termini.
He urged residents in every district to submit petitions to their respective District Collectors—either directly or through We The Leaders—seeking the closure of TASMAC outlets operating within the 500-metre radius. He reiterated his call for collective action and social change.
