Chief Minister Vijay is set to visit Karur on Thursday, marking his first trip to the district after becoming Chief Minister. The visit comes after he stayed away from Karur for 285 days following a deadly crowd crush during an event he attended on September 7, 2025, in which 41 people died.

He will address a public interaction meeting near Vennamalai at a private college sports ground, where around 5,000 people are expected to participate. Arrangements have also been made for a roadshow while he travels towards the Karur Collectorate.

At the Collectorate, the Chief Minister is scheduled to take part in a welfare assistance distribution programme for beneficiaries and hold a review meeting with officials.

In Manavasi panchayat, he will lay the foundation stone for a private Evergreen Kothari footwear manufacturing unit that will produce non-leather footwear at an investment of Rs 1,700 crore. The project is expected to generate employment for about 13,000 people.

Later, he will hand over appointment orders on compassionate grounds to 32 members from the families of those who died in the Karur crowd incident, placing them in various government departments.
